Artist and Tutor : a bit of background on Jeremy…

After a career in art eduction, Jeremy now works as a practising artist and gigging musician. He is primarily a landscape painter working from a home-based studio in Repton, Derbyshire and also in a larger space at Storer Farm, Wirksworth where he also runs art courses. Since retiring in 2015 from a career in teaching art, he has prepared work for six exhibitions, two of which have been exclusively dedicated to depicting scenes from the area around the farm in the Ecclesbourne Valley. Although he will continue to practise as a painter, Jeremy has no plans in 2019 to exhibit. Instead, he will concentrate on expanding the Storer Farm Art Courses which will cater for artists of all abilities to experience the therapeutic value of painting and drawing in the landscape.

Development of the Art Courses at Storer Farm

Jason rears a variety of unusual pigs and chickens which roam the gardens. Together with the sheep grazing in neighbouring farmers' fields, the location is suffused with a tranquil and pastoral ambience entirely conducive to the production of art. Ten one-day art courses are planned for 2019 which, as well as delivering carefully tailored painting and drawing courses for people of all ages and abilities, also intend to offer an opportunity to truly relax and unwind. Indeed, the courses seek to offer participants the chance to discover the extraordinary revivifying and therapeutic qualities of art. To this end it is envisaged that art therapy courses in the future will be devised to develop the benefits of mindfulness and to improve health and well-being through art practice. The courses are fully resourced and catered; home-prepared and locally sourced food being provided by Jason and his wife, Jocelyn. They are the centre and hub of this endeavour and their warm and gracious hospitality welcomes all the artists to these art courses in Derbyshire.

Bespoke courses

Jeremy Bournon offers bespoke art tutorial weekends at Storer Farm. For individuals and couples the farm location offers both accommodation and the chance to gain and enhance drawing and painting skills in the beautiful surroundings of Ashleyhay. Forty years teaching art has prepared Jeremy to offer a wide range of bespoke art courses to suit the individual needs and desires of the artists. A bespoke weekend art experience can include lessons in drawing, painting, collage and mixed media, in an art historical or contemporary practice context.

Commissions and future projects

With his background of pushing the boundaries of art practice, Jeremy can undertake a variety of different sorts of painting and drawing commissions. In 2012, he undertook the painting of nine 3metre tall abstract paintings for a new conference centre in Abu Dhabi and is currently working on a number of works for private clients. In 2019, he will be completing a collection of paintings of Calke Abbey, one of Derbyshire's great stately homes, for exhibition in 2020 and taking a microlight over Rutland Water to gather information for a series of aerial painting of its surrounding landscape.
